Ms. Smith emphasised that it was not enough to deliver significant performance, but that it was equally important to give back to First Regional's members and the wider community through our Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Beneficiaries of the five-year scholarships are: Daisja Langley, who will be attending Wolmers High School; Christian Hamilton, attending York Castle High; Tadwaine Wilson, attending St. Mary's High School; Delicia Grant, attending St. Hilda's High School and Gabriel Roberts who received the First Regional Hospitality Scholarship for Mannings High. Twelve students received book grants. Three tertiary level undergraduates have each received a bursary valued at $200,000. This will allow them to pursue studies in Law, Special Education and Agricultural Science. Guest Speaker, Minister of Labour & Social Security, Hon. Shahine Robinson commended First Regional for recognising the importance of education to nation-building through its scholarship programme over the years.. "Through this goodwill of sponsoring the education of our children, the management of First Regional Co-operative Credit Union has integrated a social concern through its business operations, and that is commendable. This philanthropic initiative is worthy of emulation," the Minister said. |
